Privacy Policy

MyTravelPhoto is run by one person — Derek Malone, a photographer based in Dallas, Texas. This page explains, in plain language, what happens to photographs and to any information you give me. It is short because the site does very little.

Candid photography in public spaces

The photographs on this site are candid images of people made in public places — sidewalks, parks, overlooks, plazas and similar spaces where there is no reasonable expectation of privacy. In the United States, photographing people in public is lawful, and photographs made this way are used here editorially and non-commercially: they are given to the people in them, free of charge.

I hold myself to a stricter standard than the law requires:

• I never photograph inside private spaces, or through windows into them.
• I don’t photograph children as the subject of an image without a parent or guardian present and aware.
• I don’t sell these photographs to third parties, license them for advertising, or use them to promote another company’s product.
• I don’t publish albums openly. An album is reachable only with the private code printed on the card I handed you, and album pages are excluded from search engines.
• If you ask me to remove a photograph, I remove it. I don’t ask why and I don’t make you prove anything.

Removal and takedown requests

You can ask me to take down any photograph of you at any time, for any reason or none. Use the removal request form and tell me roughly what the photograph shows and where or when it was taken — the album code from your card is ideal, but it isn’t required.

What happens next:

• Acknowledgement: I reply to confirm I’ve received it, normally within two business days.
• Removal: the album or individual photographs come off the live site within seven days of my reply, usually much sooner. Once removed, the album code stops working.
• Deletion: if you ask me to delete the original files as well as remove them from the site, I do that and confirm when it’s done. Deletion is permanent — I cannot send you the photographs afterwards, so I’ll check that’s what you want first.
• Good faith: I treat a request from anyone appearing in a photograph as valid. I don’t require identification, a lawyer, or a legal citation.

What I collect

Photographs

Original files and the web-sized versions generated from them are stored on a private server I control. They are not on any public cloud bucket and are never served as plain static files — every view and download passes through an access check tied to your album code.

Album activity

For each album I record how many times it was opened, how many downloads it has had, and when it was last opened. This is a count, not a profile: no names, no IP logs, no cookies for tracking, no analytics service, no advertising pixels of any kind.

Things you send me

If you use the contact form, I keep your name, email address, any album code you mention and your message, so that I can reply and keep track of what you asked for.

Cookies

The site sets a cookie only when it must: an administrator login cookie (mine, not yours), and — if full-resolution downloads are ever made a paid option — a cookie that remembers a purchase so you can download the files again. There are no tracking or advertising cookies.

Payments

Downloads are free today. If paid full-resolution downloads are introduced later, payments will be processed by Stripe, and card details will go to Stripe directly — never to this server. I would keep only the fact of the purchase, the email address you used and Stripe’s reference for it, so that your download link keeps working.

Who else sees this

Nobody. I don’t sell, rent or share personal information. The only third parties involved are my server host, my email provider for replies, and Stripe if and when payments are enabled.

How long things are kept

• Albums stay online until they expire, are archived, or you ask me to remove them.
• Original files are kept so I can re-send photographs if you lose them.
• Contact messages are kept while I’m dealing with them and for a reasonable record.

Your choices

You can ask me what I hold about you, ask for a copy, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. One message is enough — there’s no form to fill in and no fee.
